Handwoven lustrous Chanderi drape in fiery red with Jamdani double flower motifs and a silver border.
Known for its beauty, softness, transparency and lustrous sheen - the magic of a Chanderi saree lies in its thread, its warp and its weft.
It takes an expert weaver a week to setup a loom and almost 3-4 days to weave a saree. Most of our weavers from Chanderi have looms setup inside their houses and have been associated with handlooms from a very young age.
In Jamdani, motifs are inlaid into the fabric by adding a denser thread to fine warp threads by hand. This process is considered to be one of the most advanced hand weaving techniques in the world.
Our weavers from the Bengal cluster have been in the tradition of weaving for several generations.
This process is so time intensive that on a usual day, an artisan can weave only upto between a quarter and one inch of fabric. The creation of Jamdani weaves requires 2-3 weavers and anywhere between 1 week and 1 month to finish.
