Chikankari art in India has its roots originating from the town of Nawabs, Lucknow. A very delicate and intricate type of embroidery, it is characteristic of floral embroideries, paisley motifs, peacocks, butterflies and more.
One of the most favorable choice for summers, Chikankari garments are made in a three step procedure - block printing, embroidery and washing out.
Depending on the embroidery, each piece of Chikankari apparel takes about 2-2.5 months to be made by hand by the artisans of Lucknow.
