Handwoven naturally dyed cotton drape in light pink with handblock Ikat prints and dotted motifs.

From ancient trade ties to fashion, Ikat uses a dyeing and weaving technique that involves specific computations based on mathematical symmetry – where every inch is calculated and connected.

A complex, skill-intensive process of marking, tying and dyeing the design into the yarn; the process can be repeated multiple times to produce elaborate and multicolored patterns.

The dyeing process in this art form is carried out multiple times in different colours by the weavers to get the design. It can take up to 7 months between 2 people to complete one length of a saree.
