Tree-free paper came out of the necessity to stop the felling of trees to make paper. Paper that is made out of trees contains only 30-40% cellulose which makes the paper quality poor. In order to make up for this, chemicals are added to the paper, which consumes a lot of water and is also harmful to the environment.

Tree-free paper is recylced and upcycled without harming any trees. It is made out of agricultural waste like cotton and linen rags, coffee husk, banana fibre, mulberry, corn husk, vetiver grass, tea waste, ragi, flax fibre, etc. This process also consums far less water, thereby making these notebooks 100% environment-friendly and sustainably handmade.

The designs on the cover of the notebook are inspired by the flora of Auroville.
